Our Predictions: Ashley and Ryan agree that the movie will hold up.

  • Joey Slotnick is in this movie and Ryan is excited about it.
  • We talk about the expectations of women in the 1940’s and the real fear of women becoming “too masculine” by playing baseball.
  • Did you know that the character Marla Hooch is supposed to be ugly? They don’t mention it much in the movie at all… (This is sarcasm just in case you couldn’t tell.)
  • We go on a small trip to Tangent City and talk about riding trains.
  • We touch briefly on the differences between the true story and the movie.
  • We relate to being the dynamic of being the little sibling like Kit.

CORRECTION: In this episode we state that Penny Marshall was the first female director to have a movie gross over a 100 million dollars for this movie, when actually it was 1988’s Big. A League of Their Own did also hit that mark, making her the first female director have two films that grossed over 100 million!
